Can’t Keep Up? 3 Ways to Simplify Your Bookkeeping
Have you ever sat down to do an important task, only to emerge five hours later with little to nothing to show for it?
Chances are if you’ve ever done your own bookkeeping you’ve experienced this. But it doesn’t have to be this way! In this post I’ll guide you through the 3 easy ways to simplify your bookkeeping and spend more time relaxing.
1. Have a Special Folder for Your Receipts
Have a special folder for your receipts – both online and physical. If you don’t have to go through the pain of reorganizing half of your home to find your receipts, you’ll be more likely to get to it.
2. Put it in Your Calendar
Schedule a dedicated time to sort your receipts. This could be daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly. The more receipts you have, the more often you’ll want to sort them.
Generally you won’t want to go longer than a month without entering your receipts because you’ll want to look at your financial statements at least monthly.
3. Make a Plan
If you have all your receipts together and sit down regularly to sort your receipts, that’s half the battle. Having a plan for how to sort and enter your receipts is the other half of the battle. You don’t want to end up shuffling receipts from one pile to another, getting nothing done.
Learn a simple, quick routine for sorting your receipts here. It’s guaranteed to save you time and frustration.
